What is this?
Unstalled is a blog about paruresis — commonly known as shy bladder syndrome. It affects an estimated 7% of the population, yet almost nobody talks about it openly.
This site exists to change that, even if just a little.
Who writes this?
Someone who lives with it. That’s all that matters for now.
There’s no author name, no photo, no social media profile attached to this blog. The focus is on the writing, not the writer.
What is paruresis?
Paruresis is the inability to urinate in the presence or perceived presence of others. It’s classified as a social anxiety disorder. It’s not about shyness in the colloquial sense — it’s a physiological response to a psychological trigger.
It can range from mild discomfort in crowded restrooms to a complete inability to use any public facility. In severe cases, it affects travel, work, relationships, and overall quality of life.
What you’ll find here
Honest writing about the experience of living with and working to overcome paruresis. Posts about daily challenges, recovery strategies, and what the research actually says.
No product pitches. No miracle cures. Just one person figuring it out and writing it down.
